VU Flashmob Pizza Express!

Picture
Unexpected hilarity ensued at the VU Christmas party on Dec 15th, when we all gathered at Pizza Express in Worcester for food, drink and a good old social get-together (VU is a family, not just a group of singers)!
Live entertainment was on hand in the form of local singer / guitarist Dean Elliott, who must have thought the roof was caving in when VU members started singing along with him whenever he played a number that was in their repertoire!
Later in the evening, an impromptu 'flashmob' style performance occurred, thanks to the behind the scenes goings-on from VU stalwart Martin Bradshaw. The rest of the diners didn't quite know what had them, but thoroughly enjoyed the event, by all accounts!

Loadsamoney raised for M.E. Research!

Picture
We are delighted to report that our recent gigs at The Swan Theatre, Worcester, raised in excess of £1,500 for our charities for 2011 - we are raising money for M.E research this year (last year it was the Breast Cancer Unit in Worcester hospital).
We are just thrilled - thanks to everyone who bought tickets to the sell-out shows!

VU Rocked the Red House Glass Cone

Picture
On Saturday July 2nd we had the pleasure of singing alongside West End veteran Mark Pincher (left), one of our favourite guest artists and old friend of VU!
This time, we were Mark's guests at The Red House Glass Cone in Stourbridge, where he has just opened the beautiful Crystal Tea Rooms. Mark has a good many family connections with both the Glass Cone and indeed to the running of tea rooms, and he is making a superb job of this latest venture, which has already seen people from all over the world trying out the fantastic food (and of course, tea!) on offer.
The gig was one of the more unusual that we've done - ever sung on a furnace? No, neither had we! - but a fabulous time was had by all.

Mark will be appearing with The VU Sound once again as a very special guest artist at our concert for Worcester Cathedral on October 29th 2011. We can't wait! Thanks Mark, and save us a scone!
